Emma FINALLY passed the weight requirement to get a big girl booster seat. She has been too tall for the regular seat for a while now, but she is so skinny that it took a while for her to get over that 40 pound limit. She is very excited, and so are we as it frees up some space in the back seat where we are cramming in 3 carseats. Sara is happy for her as well.

Yay for Emma!
How in the world were you fitting THREE car seats in the backseat? I am flabbergasted. Our ONE car seat barely fits back there. If I wore hats, I would tip my hat to you.
Your kids are adorable as always, and Emma looks so excited! :) What kind of car do you have? I think it's going to be tough for me to fit a booster in my back seat with 3 across, it's a tight fit already and I have 2 of the narrowest car seats on the market right now, any booster will be wider than my seats. Luckily I won't have to worry yet, we'll likely be able to get a van before the 5 point harness seats are outgrown (They still fit great in them, they have really tall top slots and a high weight limit.) I think Hannah would do well in a booster but I wouldn't trust Abby yet, she's really immature and impulsive and I don't think she'd keep the seat belt on or sit properly.
Anyway, now that Emma is in a backless booster it is very important that she keeps the shoulder belt across her chest and that she stays sitting up right. Without the shoulder belt across her chest she can be paralized by the lap belt. That is why you don't see new cars with lap only belts. They have been found to be very dangerous when used alone. If the shoulder part of the belt is bothering her (I'm not sure if it is, it just looks like it's under her arm in the pictures so I'm not sure if she put it there to be more comfortable) then that means that the backless booster isn't fitting her correctly (even though she is the right weight to use it.) and she would be better off in a booster seat with a back on it because it will better help to hold the shoulder belt in the correct position and make it more comfortable for her. There might also be a "Shoulder Belt Positioner" with your backless booster that will help to hold the shoulder belt in the correct position for her. Look in the owner's manual that came with her booster. It also looks like Sara's straps may need to be untwisted and tightened a bit and the chest clip moved up too. I hope I'm not sounding nit picky, I don't mean to be. Just an observation. I notice these kinds of things easily ever since I got really into child passenger safety a few years ago. If you have any questions just shoot me an message and I will gladly help you out. Also, I've got some tech friends who I'm sure would love to give you a free seat check if you are ever interested.
Oh wait. On second look, it doesn't look like the belt is under her arm. I see now that the belt goes over her left shoulder. Anyway, just make sure to check from time to time that she doesn't move it under her arm for comfort or that the part up near her shoulder doesn't dig into her neck, and make sure to remind her to sit upright so the belt will continue to fit properly.
Holly, you are right about Sara's seat needing some tightening. That is Emma's old one that she had JUST inherited, and I adjusted it for her after taking these pictures. I think it is cool that you have taken such an interest in that topic, and I am glad to have someone I can count on for good information on the subject. Thanks for your concern!
