On Saturday Ross and I went on a double date with by fabulous Uncle jay and Aunt Lara. It was a lot of fun. We started off the night by going to the Bangcock Grill where I lost my Thai Food virginity. Oh, Curry and peanut sauce- where have you and the coconut milky goodness been all my life?! It was a very fitting choice considering we were then headed to the UVU presentation of Chess the musical. That was not planned- but it made us all laugh when we realized the coincidence.
The show was. . . well, it was good. Not great- but not bad either. It was definitely worth the price we paid and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening, but I have to say that I was a little disappointed. Florence was not at all what I had envisioned- although she had an incredible voice and did a great job. I had just always pictured her as slimmer and more striking. Freddy Trumper was exactly what I had envisioned, but couldn't hit the high notes that his character required. Anatoly was really amazing and just as stiff, nerdy, and yet alluring as he was supposed to be, but he did not at all look Russian. The diplomats were my favorite part- especially the Russion one- and I am not just saying that because he was played by my best friend's sister's husband. Jake Suazo was fantastic and I was drawn to him in every scene he was in. The biggest disappointment of the night was "One Night in Bangcock". They murdered it. There was just nothing at all good about it. The choreography was lame, the costumes were awful, the singing was terrible, and no one seemed to know the words. Sadness.
Anyway, like I said- it was fairly good for a college performance, and we had a really great time with Jay and Lara.
Thanks for hanging out with your nerdy niece and her husband, guys! I really enjoyed it.

Hey i know that uncle of yours!
How am I such a slacker of a friend? I am the worst commenter ever. I pretty much commented on your fbook photos for this though, so I excuse me. I both love and hate that there is a musical I don't know. I will have to purchase the CD ASAP unless you have one and are willing to burn it for me... I will pay you so much money.
