Some Things About That Sara Girl

Here are some fun facts about Sara that I should have mentioned on her birthday.

  1. She is an early riser. While her sister will sleep in till 10:00 if I let her, Sara is always up shortly after Ross leaves for work. Sometimes I can get her entertained with a show or a book, and other lucky mornings I can get her to snuggle back to sleep in my bed, but usually she just wants to play and talk with me.
  2. Sara loves broccoli. LOVES it. She calls them little trees, and she begged me to serve the white and green trees (cauliflower and broccoli) as part of her birthday dinner.
  3. She was in her terrible twos right until her birthday. It was miraculous almost. She went from throwing fits and crying about little things all the time to being more patient and sweet than ever. She still has her moments- but she is soooo much more easy going now.
  4. She still likes the family to all be together. When Daddy is gone she asks about him all day and makes plans for when he will be home. When I am gone, she does the same for me.
  5. Sara has to sing the Popcorn song every night (Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree) or she won't go to sleep.
  6. Sara is soooo ready to go to school. She has to come along when we drop Emma off at pre-school and piano lessons, and she can't wait to be able to do the same. She got a back-pack for her birthday and will be starting Pre-school the same day Emma starts Kindergarten. I know. I don't wanna talk about it. *sniff sniff sob*
  7. She is my big helper! I can get her to do just about anything if I call her my big helper. She entertains Jack, cleans her room, sets the table, picks up stuff off the floor, puts food away, anything. She likes to feel like she is helping, and she BEAMS when I tell her what a big helper she was.
  8. She is still a Daddy's girl, and probably always will be. Part of the bedtime routine is that after prayers, I leave to put Jack to bed while Ross stays and has personal snuggle time with the girls. They wait all day for it. He is so sweet with them, and Sara loves him so much.
  9. Sara is turning into a little artist. Her scribbles are turning into recognizable shapes, and she can tell me a whole story to go along with her artwork. The other day I was a bit dissappointed to see her just scribbling all over her page with a blue marker. Later, however, I heard her telling Jack that is was, ". . . a big scary storm with wind blowing all in circles." Awesome.
  10. She still has no hips to hold up pants, so I just got her a bunch of dresses and skirts. Because it is still cold outside, she has to wear tights with the dresses, and she loves this. We got her some in every color (thank you dollar aisle at Target!) and she loves matching up her dresses to the perfect tights. Also, we see much less of her little bum now.

Sara is incredible, and I love her so much. She is so smart and funny and is bursting with love. I am so proud of the little lady she is becoming even if I wish I could just keep her small. I am so grateful for the chance to be her mommy and watch her grow.

Sara is awesome! I'm still with ya on the dresses and skirts, being hipless myself. Hadn't thought of the tights though. I might have to make an investment in some.
