The second weekend in March was my cousin Spencer's homecoming from his mission, so we drove up to Roosevelt to support him. We actually got a hotel in Vernal because we had a voucher for a free night in the Marriott there. After we settled into the hotel, swam around in the pool, and got some lunch, we headed over to the soccer fields where two of my cousins had some soccer games that day.
When nobody would let Jack play with all the soccer balls, he contented himself with some spare side-line markers.
Peek-A-Boo! I like my boys!
My mom and dad had spent the day at the dinosaur quarry, and they brought the kids each a plush dinosaur.
This is Trixie the Triceratops.
Jack got a saber tooth tiger that he affectionately calls RAWR!
This is Ele the brachiasaurus. She loves this thing. She sleeps with it every night.
On the way up, a big rock flew out of a gravel truck and broke our windshield. It was really scary. We are sooo lucky it didn't shatter the whole thing. Ross got sprinkled with some safety glass shards, but other than that, we were safe.
I tried to get a good picture of the damage, but I couldn't get the lighting right. The big circle was bigger than my fist.
It actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We have HATED this windshield since we bought the van. We inherited it with a couple of small dings, and it has always had a weird film on it that we haven't been able to get off with ANYTHING. We think it was a Rainex job gone bad or something. Anyway, our insurance covered a new windshield, and the repair place even offered to waive our deductible, so we got a brand new shiny windshield with no nicks and no funny film without any out of pocket costs! The repair guy even came to our house to replace it, so I didn't have to drag three kids to the repair shop and wait around for hours. We are happy campers. :)
So.. back to the weekend. After the soccer games we went back to the hotel and enjoyed the pool. Sunday was lovely with a wonderful talk by Spencer. Emma and Sara went to primary pretty well, although Sara took some convincing. Jack napped on me during Relief Society, and we had a good lesson. After church, we enjoyed a lovely meal at Allen and Carrie's house. The kids liked seeing the cows and the chickens, and I liked talking to Carrie and Grandma Wallace.
We are grateful for Spencer and the awesome example he is setting for our kids. We can't wait to see what amazing things he will do.
The drive home was uneventful and nice. It was a good little get away, even if nothing we did seems at all exciting to anyone else.

I can't believe he's already back I swear we were just talking about his farewell. I'm glad you could go to the homecoming.
Little get-a-ways are the best and don't happen often enough! ;)
