Some Things About That Sara Girl

Here are some fun facts about Sara that I should have mentioned on her birthday.

  1. She is an early riser. While her sister will sleep in till 10:00 if I let her, Sara is always up shortly after Ross leaves for work. Sometimes I can get her entertained with a show or a book, and other lucky mornings I can get her to snuggle back to sleep in my bed, but usually she just wants to play and talk with me.
  2. Sara loves broccoli. LOVES it. She calls them little trees, and she begged me to serve the white and green trees (cauliflower and broccoli) as part of her birthday dinner.
  3. She was in her terrible twos right until her birthday. It was miraculous almost. She went from throwing fits and crying about little things all the time to being more patient and sweet than ever. She still has her moments- but she is soooo much more easy going now.
  4. She still likes the family to all be together. When Daddy is gone she asks about him all day and makes plans for when he will be home. When I am gone, she does the same for me.
  5. Sara has to sing the Popcorn song every night (Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree) or she won't go to sleep.
  6. Sara is soooo ready to go to school. She has to come along when we drop Emma off at pre-school and piano lessons, and she can't wait to be able to do the same. She got a back-pack for her birthday and will be starting Pre-school the same day Emma starts Kindergarten. I know. I don't wanna talk about it. *sniff sniff sob*
  7. She is my big helper! I can get her to do just about anything if I call her my big helper. She entertains Jack, cleans her room, sets the table, picks up stuff off the floor, puts food away, anything. She likes to feel like she is helping, and she BEAMS when I tell her what a big helper she was.
  8. She is still a Daddy's girl, and probably always will be. Part of the bedtime routine is that after prayers, I leave to put Jack to bed while Ross stays and has personal snuggle time with the girls. They wait all day for it. He is so sweet with them, and Sara loves him so much.
  9. Sara is turning into a little artist. Her scribbles are turning into recognizable shapes, and she can tell me a whole story to go along with her artwork. The other day I was a bit dissappointed to see her just scribbling all over her page with a blue marker. Later, however, I heard her telling Jack that is was, ". . . a big scary storm with wind blowing all in circles." Awesome.
  10. She still has no hips to hold up pants, so I just got her a bunch of dresses and skirts. Because it is still cold outside, she has to wear tights with the dresses, and she loves this. We got her some in every color (thank you dollar aisle at Target!) and she loves matching up her dresses to the perfect tights. Also, we see much less of her little bum now.

Sara is incredible, and I love her so much. She is so smart and funny and is bursting with love. I am so proud of the little lady she is becoming even if I wish I could just keep her small. I am so grateful for the chance to be her mommy and watch her grow.

Sara's Birthday Morning

The morning of Sara's birthday started with a fun jaunt to Orem to attend the baptism of our nephew Sam- which was the reason the Goodman grandparents were in town. Here are some pictures.

There are so many things to love about this first picture:
1: All three people featured here are looking at different cameras.
2: Sam is looking at my camera. Thanks, Dude!
3: Melissa has that awesome "I am so tired of posing for pictures" grin.
4: Emma is in the background pouting about not being the center of attention.

Thanks for being a good example for your little cousins and siblings, Sam. You made a good decision.Brookie LOVES Jack and is always very sweet and helpful when she is around. She did a good job entertaining him while everyone got all the customary post-milestone event photos.

This little girl was so annoyed, but so cute. It was Sara's birthday, Sam's baptism, Macie was here to visit for the first time ever, and Jack is the cutest baby alive so he always has scores of admirers. She was a little lacking in the attention department. So neglected. Look at that scowl! Priceless!
Happy birthday, Sara-Bear. We sure love you.
Dear Ross,
You are hot in glasses. Please kiss me right this second.
Love, Amanda

A Quick Apology Followed by Sara Bear's First Third Birthday Party

Oh my, I am behind. Sara had a birthday, and I feel neglectful for not having posted pictures and personal facts and all the other things I usually blog around birthdays. I will spare you my laundry list of excuses (getting sick, lots of work, internet problems, etc. . .) and just jump right into getting caught up while the kids enjoy some Veggie Tales on Netflix.

Sara was a lucky little girl this year and got TWO birthday parties! She also got to have some special guests at her party. Grandma and Grandpa Goodman were in Utah for a baptism, and if that wasn't exciting enough (which it totally was!), they brough Aunt Gena and her little girl Macie with her! Sara LOVED that.

After Sam's baptism festivities, the Goodman gang headed out to our house to have cake and ice cream for Sara's birthday.

I opted out of making her a cake because I was sick. Really sick. Grossly sick. Feverishly sick. She loved it, and so did I (the cake, not being sick. I hated that). It was super big and I am still eating pieces of it for breakfast.
Aunt Gena and Aunt Melissa got her a fun little tinkerbell toy set. She LOVES it. The last week she has been getting dressed in her Tinkerbell dress with her Tinkerbell dog from Build-a-Bear, and plays with her Tinkerbell toys. Good choice, Aunts.
Emma likes it too. The funny thing is- we don't own any of the Tinkerbell movies, so I am not sure where this love for all the Tinkerbell fairy stuff came from. . .

Grandma Goodman got her some fun outfits (that she promptly went upstairs and changed into) a book, a necklace and bracelet set, and a little Minnie Mouse doll, that Sara calls Pink Mickey.

It was so fun to see Gena and Macie. We never get to see them.
There is Sara with Pink Mickey, her necklace, and her new PJs from Grandma. The shirt is super soft, and she gets mad when I have to wash it and she can't wear it. Thanks everyone for making my little girl so happy! It was a fun evening, but it was sad to say good bye to all the California Goodmans. We will get to see them when we head out there for Memorial Day, so we are looking forward to that!

Sara's Birthday Interview

My friend Ashley has this fun tradition of interviewing her kids on their birthdays. I love the idea, and am stealing it. Here is Sara's 3rd birthday interview. I love this girl!
