We headed out to the temple on this day. Ross got home a bit earlier than usual, so we thought it would be fun to go see the temple and then get dinner. The Houston traffic, however, had other plans. That was still the order of events for us, but it turned into a late night as it took us 2 hours to get to the temple. We also drove through some pretty sketchy parts of Houston. We think Grenadine, our GPS, was feeling a little vindictive... It was really lovely once we got there, and a late night just meant that the kids were dead asleep by the time we got back to the hotel, so it was easy to put them to bed that night.
We had a potty break for the boy that JUST BARELY made it. While he was taking care of business, I went to the Distribution Center there and bought a picture of the temple, and some little booklets for the kids. They like them.
Emma took these pictures and they crack me up. I told her to take one, and I had no idea Jack was there, so finding the series of them was a fun surprise for me.
Miss Emma got tired of walking, I guess.
Jack fished a dead clump of leaves out of the main fountain and decided it was a wizard wand.
So close to walking!
We saw some amazing cardinals in these bushes. Emma thought they were butterflies at first because the red was so bright and beautiful.
Jack's For the Strength of the Youth pamphlet turned into a treasure map. I found that hilarious and touchingly symbolic.
After the temple, we headed to an Outback Steakhouse because we had a gift card for there. It was very yummy even though they were out of the prime rib and I had to resort to the amazing parmesean crusted salmon instead.
